Collie Buddz will perform this Friday, Aug. 26, at The Complex.
Collie is one of the fastest-rising reggae artists in the world and is coming off a huge summer with the release of his current EP “Playback”.
His tour schedule this summer has included performances at Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, Redfest and he will be playing Reggae On The Rocks at the Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado the day after his Salt Lake performance.
His show last November in SLC was a sellout in a 21+ setting, and with this event being an all-ages show the turnout should be even bigger.

There aren’t many people that work in the music industry that can say they helped change it. There aren’t many people that work in the music industry that can say they helped inspire kids to be entrepreneurs when they grow up. Dino Delvaille can. Even before he signed Cash Money Records to Universal in an unprecedented $30 Million deal, Dino was building rosters on Payday records, signing acts like Jay-Z. Yeah that’s right, Jay-Z, ever heard of him? If you did your research, we wouldn’t have heard of an In My Lifetime if it weren’t for Dino making the deal. That’s been Mr. Delvaille’s M.O. his entire career. He found the talent before they we’re superstars and brokered the deal that helped shape them into what they are today.
In our interview with Dino, we discuss first meeting with Baby and the rest of the Cash Money roster. He said that Baby even pulled a gun out on him in their first sit down. That didn’t stop the deal from going down. Dino’s persistence kept the deal alive, as he talks about calling to interfere with a meeting between CMB and Sylvia Rhone while she was at Elektra Records. Ultimately the deal was signed. Dino finally breaks down what it took for Universal to be willing to give up so much, and even speaks on the final moment of Baby putting his signature to the contract, and walking around with his $3 Million check in hand.
Check out the bonus footage from our interview with Dino below. In it, Dino talks about how The Big Tymers didn’t do the numbers the label had hoped. Because of this, Dino began to question himself. He continued to do so until Juvenile brought Ha into the office.

After a little quiet Bermuda’s silky voiced reggae singer Collie Buddz is stepping out with a free EP called Playback. His self-titled debut  album started out at first position on the Billboard Reggae Chart in 2007. Now the artist is back with seven sleek, burnished melodies and he’s not asking a cent for them.

Collie Buddz announces January 18th 2011 as the release date for his highly anticipated EP - “Playback.”  The single and music video, "Holiday" sets the tone for the first official Collie Buddz release since his critically acclaimed self-titled debut which hit the top 100 on the Billboard charts in 2007.  The new single has received support from tastemaker DJs like Hot 97's DJ Enuff (New York City), Sirius/XM's DJ Whoo Kidd, ZIP 103's ZJ Elektra (Jamaica) and online urban mega-portals Thisis50.com and WorldStarHipHop.com among other sites within days of it's release.  To reciprocate the years of overwhelming support, Buddz has decided to make the entire EP available for free on his website, www.CollieBuddz.com.

 Always the perfectionist, Collie has spent much of the last three years since his last release making new music. Collie proudly says of the process, “The EP was entirely written, recorded and engineered in Bermuda with my brother Smokey at Harper Digital Studios.”  The project features an array of hand-picked producers, including Supa Dups (Eminem, Akon, Mary J. Blige) and Baby Dee, whose beats compliment Collie's progressive style.  

Fresh off the groundbreaking “Legalize It Tour” with Slightly Stoopid and Cypress Hill, as well as solo runs across the United States and Internationally, Collie has maintained a rigorous touring schedule in preparation for this release. Heralded for his live stage show with a full band and unique ability to connect with the crowd, Buddz is excited to bring his music directly to his fan base via his website.

When Bermudan Reggae cross over artist, Collin Harper aka Collie Buddz, came to New York to perform at Rice and Peas, we knew we had to get something exclusive with him and it had to be dope. We decided with some fresh threads, Collie would make for a great fashion shoot…
We hit up stylist, Carolyn Castro who pulled some seriously fly gear from Nike Sportswear, Boundless, Carrera and some other brands…
We took Collie around Chinatown for some gritty, authentically downtown backdrops and took some shots at Santos Party House, where he had just sound checked for the big show.
Mr. Harper was super cool and gave our stylist Carolyn Castro and Largeup’s own Martei Korley total creative control, he was cool, humble and cooperative about the shoot and we have the pics and flicks to prove it!
